This is where the history of Eg-Gü Werke GmbH in Meerane, Saxony, begins: Egbert Günther founded a company this year that manufactured floor wax. In the following years, the product portfolio was expanded to include shoe and leather care products.
Following a change of location and the development of a wide range of products, Eg-Gü revolutionized shoe polish storage by becoming the first company to sell shoe polish in tubes. To achieve this, Eg-Gü took over a factory specializing in the production of metal tubes.
With the acquisition of the metal factory, the company now has around 500 employees and benefits from various trade relations on all continents. Eg-Gü is the number 1 shoe polish manufacturer and market leader in Germany.
The factory in Dresden was largely destroyed by several air raids in 1945. However, it was rebuilt and even managed to offer a wider range of products.
Eg-Gü is the first German manufacturer to produce solvent-free cleaning and care products. The export strategy, initiated in 1955, is successfully continued, and the product portfolio is expanded to 72 individual products in the 1990s.
Eg-Gü reinvents itself: with new products, improved formulas, and a new overall image. In the future, Eg-Gü will bring a breath of fresh air to the shoe care market and offer its customers first-class products for all aspects of shoe care.
