How to Prevent Shoe Odour: A Simple Care Routine
Shoe odour often develops when moisture cannot dry completely inside the shoe. A routine that combines airing, drying, cleaning and rotating pairs can help reduce odours and keep the interior materials in better condition.

1. Open shoes after wear
Loosen the laces, open fastenings and pull the tongue forward. Place the shoes in a dry, well-ventilated area. Do not store them in a closed bag or cupboard while they are still damp.
2. Allow complete drying
Avoid heaters and hair dryers because they can affect materials, foams and adhesives. Dry at room temperature. Clean, absorbent and colourfast paper may be inserted loosely. Avoid heavily printed newspaper.
3. Rotate between pairs
Where possible, do not wear the same pair every day. Sports shoes, work shoes and closed footwear benefit from additional drying time.
4. Air removable insoles separately
Take out removable insoles regularly. Clean them only when the manufacturer instructions permit it. Replace insoles that are heavily worn, damaged or retain odour.
5. Clean the interior
Airing does not remove visible dirt. Remove dust with a soft brush or cloth. On compatible materials, the Premium Power Foam Cleaner Set may be used with minimal moisture. Test it on an inconspicuous area first.
6. Use a suitable shoe deodorant
The Shoe Deo 125 ml can help reduce odours between cleaning sessions. Follow the label and use it in a well-ventilated area. It does not replace cleaning or complete drying.
7. Consider socks and usage
Wear clean socks suited to the activity and change them after use. Shoes worn intensively generally need more drying time and more frequent interior care.
8. Store only dry shoes
A dry, ventilated storage area is better than an airtight plastic box. Before long-term storage, clean and fully dry the shoes.
